Under the Tree wins 7 Icelandic Film Awards

The black comedy by Hafsteinn Gunnar Sigurdsson was the big winner in the Icelandic Film Awards, winning 7 out of 12 nominations. Awards includes Best Film, Director, Screenplay, VFX, Lead Actress, Lead Actor and Supporting Actor. Farbfilm will distribute the film in Germany. World sales are handled by New Europe Films Sales.

The Bookshop wins Spanish Goya Awards

Isabel Coixet’s new feature won best film, best director and best adapted screenplay. The adaptation of the story by Booker Prize-winning novelist Penelope Fitzgerald has been a success at the Spanish box office so far grossing €2.47m. International premiere is up next as a Berlinale Special Gala session. World sales are handled by Celsius Entertainment. German distributor is Capelight.

HBO acquires The Tale out of Sundance

After five standing ovations at five screenings at the Sundance Film Festival, Jennifer Fox’s feature, starring Laura Dern and Ellen Burstyn, has been sold to HBO – which marked the second largest deal of the festival. Critics have raved about the film throughout and the film is currently 100% Fresh on Rotten Tomatoes.

The County starts principal photography

After a successful cooperation on Under the Tree, we’re teaming up with Netop Films for a new co-production: The County is Grímur Hákonarson’s third feature, after his Un Certain Regard winner Rams. The principal photography started on February 27th. Denmark’s Profile Pictures and France’s Haut et Court are also on board of the film. SR/arte will broadcast in Germany, world sales are handled by New Europe Film Sales. ICM will sell the US.

Freedom sold to the US after solid run in German theaters

German distributor Film Kino Text launched Jan Speckenbach’s second feature starring Johanna Wokalek and Hans-Jochen Wagner theaters on February 08th. On top of that, distributor Corinth Films bought the rights for the US and Canada. World sales are handled by Pluto Films.

The Bookshop at Berlinale 2018

The Spanish-British-German co-production starring Emily Mortimer, Bill Nighy and Patricia Clarkson and directed by Isabel Coixet – which has already generated over 430k admission to date in Spanish cinemas – will celebrate its international premiere at the 68. Berlin International Film Festival in the Berlinale Special Gala section. Celsius Entertainment handles world sales. Capelight will distribute in Germany.

Sol Bondy

Sol Bondy

was born in London and grew up in Spain and Berlin. He graduated from the German film school dffb Berlin. He was recognized by Screen International as one of the “Future Leaders: Producers” (2013) and graduated from the “Trans Atlantic Partners” program. Sol is a member of the European Film Academy and subsequently teaches at the dffb, Film University Potsdam, Met Film School and FAMU.

Jamila Wenske

Jamila Wenske

was born in Bad Saarow and grew up in Berlin. Following her studies in film production at the Film University Konrad Wolf in Babelsberg, she graduated from the German-French masterclass Atelier Network for young European producers in Ludwigsburg and Paris. She was selected to be part of the ACE program by Ateliers du Cinéma Européen in 2014 and is a member of the ACE Producers Network and the European Film Academy.

Christoph Lange

Christoph Lange

was born and raised in Bremen. He graduated as Master in International Business at the University of Maastricht. Since then he founded, advised and managed various companies. His strategic investment and entrepreneurial know-how are the backbone of One Two Films.

Fred Burle

Fred Burle

is Brazilian and lives in Berlin since 2010, where he graduated from the German Film School dffb. His shorts screened at more than 400 festivals worldwide. He worked as film critic, at the world sales company The Match Factory, at the Berlinale and Munich Film Festival, curated the first dffb-Festival and lectured in the University of Brasilia and in the European Film College.

Willy Kristen

Willy Kristen

was born in Leipzig and studied fine arts in Vienna where he graduated 2017 as a magister. Since his studies he is working as an assistant director and production assistant for several filmmakers and artists. Right now he is the intern of One Two Films.
