SYNOPSIS
Maria Ángeles, a 74-year-old widow, is at peace with her solitude in Tangier—until her daughter decides to sell the home she treasures. But Maria Ángeles will resist.

Maryam Touzani, born in Tangier in 1980, is a Moroccan screenwriter and director. She began her career as a journalist and documentary filmmaker before transitioning into narrative film. After creating several internationally successful short films, Maryam gained worldwide recognition in 2019 with her debut feature, ADAM, which premiered at Cannes in the Un Certain Regard section. Her second film, THE BLUE CAFTAN, was also invited to Cannes in 2022, where it won the FIPRESCI Prize for Un Certain Regard, sold widely, and became Morocco’s first film to make the Oscar’s shortlist. In 2023, Maryam was invited to serve as a jury member for the main competition at Cannes Film Festival.
